How to Take Care of 40 Plus Hair

Things You'll Need: conditioners organic, botanical oil

Step 1
Don't wash your hair everyday! Instead wash it every other day. As we age and start coloring our hair, shampooing too often, not only removes the color quicker, but also dries our hair too much. Our active lives tend to pressure us into too much washing, from work-outs, in and out of the office, home and cars, air conditioners and heaters. We all have a tendency to over-wash.

Step 2
Wet and condition it everyday! Keep more than one kind of conditioner and alternate their use. Leave the conditioner on at least one minute, before rinsing off. We all have a tendency to rush the conditioning. Leave it on a little longer.

Step 3
During times of extra dryness, like the summer, add the use of an organic botanical oil. This oil can be any kind, just make sure you like its smell. Apply it to your wet hair and leave on for several hours. Rinse off and air dry your hair. Do this on an "as needed" basis.

Tips & Warnings
If needed, sleep with oil on. Cut your hair often, once a month. This minimizes the amount of split ends you might get. Dry hair shampoo helps, but only if you do not color or highlight your hair. For color or highlighted hair, use shampoos for color or highlights. If your hair is curly, aging, and colored, stick with curly hair shampoo or extra moisturizing shampoo. Do not use a heavily smelling oil. This might cause an allergic headache. Immediately rinse off, if you feel any itching or burning on your scalp. This might indicate an allergic reaction.
