How to Choose the Best Lip Gloss

There are numerous types of gloss; plumping lip gloss, glitter, color or no color and some even have flavors. This article will help you choose which gloss is right for you, even when there might be more than one choice. For instance, a night on the town might require different lip gloss than what you wear at work. Maybe you want one type of gloss for everyday, and a separate gloss for date night.

When choosing the best lip gloss, it's important to know how the gloss affects your lips.

Plumping lip glosses work one of two ways. They either use a specific ingredient to cause a reaction on your lips, which makes them swell slightly, or they use an ingredient which fills in the lines on your lips and makes them appear fuller. When the gloss uses an ingredient, usually cinnamon, which swells your lips, it can cause a slight stinging sensation or you may feel as if you just ran cold water over your lips. This can be an unpleasant experience for some, and some, like myself, think they experience is refreshing. If the gloss is using an ingredient which fills the lines in your lips, for example collagen, the gloss may not plump your lips as much as it just gives the appearance of fuller lips.

A lip gloss that has sparkle usually contains glitter. Poorly made glitter glosses can leave small particles on your lips, which may be difficult to get rid of and can be inconvenient when applying another type of lip product. Additionally, using this type of gloss can make you appear older. Used on a daily basis, this product is best for younger girls, however, it is perfect for a night out on the town for any age.

Using a colored gloss can be very convenient. Keeping a colored lip gloss in your bag means you can leave your lipstick at home. A lightly colored gloss can be perfect for the workplace. Choose monotone colors, like beige or peach, stay away from pinks and reds, for the office. Additionally it might be helpful to keep a darker colored gloss for a night out on the town. While not as convenient, a sheer gloss is great for wearing any time. The sheer gloss can go over lipstick, or just add a natural shine to your lips for everyday wear.

Lip gloss which has flavor and aroma is always the best gloss to use on date night, in my opinion. Never use a thick coating. Remember that you aren't the only one to be affected by the tastes and feel of the gloss. Flavored lip gloss is perfect for kissing, if applied lightly.

Choosing the best lip glosses is a matter of taste. You can read reviews of different gloss, and that may give you an idea of how that particular gloss works, but it may not give you the information that's important in your decision-making. Knowing all the facts, about the benefits and detriments each type of lip gloss, will bring you that much closer to choosing the best lip gloss. When you decide to purchase your lip gloss, be sure to ask friends and family what advice they have and which products they like to use.
