Mistakes to Avoid When Purchasing Lip Gloss

When shopping for a lip gloss, buyers can make a lot of mistakes, which end up being quite costly. In order to make better choices, it's important to have all the facts. This article will explore the mistakes made when trying to find the best lip gloss, and how to make sure you pick the right one.

Despite what some lip glosses advertise, a gloss cannot miraculously make your lips look like Angelina Jolie's. A gloss will also not make random strangers grab you and kiss you. Even the most perfect gloss will not get you a husband. What a lip gloss can do is make your lips shinier, tastes better, and therefore more kissable, add color and sometimes make your lips appear fuller and smoother.

When shopping for a plumping lip gloss, it's important to have realistic expectations. A common mistake buyers make, is expecting too much from a gloss. Different lip glosses work for different functions, and very few have everything. A plumping lip gloss will probably add a little shine, and may come in different colors, but it also probably won't last a long time, at least the plumping effects won't.

The best plumping works by causing a reaction to an irritant on your skin. While this affects does cause a dramatic increase in the size of your lips, like any skin reaction it only works for a matter of minutes, and then needs to read reapplied. Other "plumping" glosses work by adding collagen into the crevices of your lips, thereby making your lips appear smoother and fuller. These type of glosses can last longer, be available in many colors, but won't dramatically increase the size of your lips.

Another mistake is choosing a lip gloss, is choosing one which lasts a long time, but may not have an appealing taste or smell. If you spend a great deal of time licking your lips, it's probably a good idea to invest in a gloss which tastes good. Glosses usually contain petroleum jelly, which doesn't have the best flavor. Many brands of lip gloss, will add artificial flavor, to enhance the flavor of the gloss. This can not only be beneficial to the you, but also to anyone kissing you.

Buyers often make the mistake of buying a gloss, which is age inappropriate. While it may seem fun, gloss with glitter probably looks best on a 10-year-old or 12-year-old. That's not to say that anybody in their 20s and 30s and 40s, etc. can't wear a the ones with glitter, it just means that type of gloss is restricted to nighttime activities. For example, going to a nightclub. For day wear, stick to glosses which add shine, and maybe a little color. For night time, bright colors, lots of shine and of course, glitter, are extremely appropriate.

Lastly, buyers make the mistake of buying a lip gloss which only serves one function. Choose a gloss based on your needs for the long-term, rather than a specific use. You might want one gloss for the office and one for evening. You may even want to buy a specific gloss for kissing.
